 Barcode
An array of machine-readable rectangular bars and spaces arranged in a specific way defined in international standards to represent letters, numbers and other human-readable symbols.
 Bitmap files
Images are exactly what their name says they are: a collection of bits that form an image. The image consists of a matrix of individual dots (or pixels) that all have their own colour (described using bits, the smallest possible units of information for a computer).
 Bleeds
Printers cannot print right to the edge of a paper sheet. To create that effect, the printer must use a sheet, which is larger than the document size. Then the printer prints beyond the edge of the document size (usually 10mm), then cuts the paper down to the document size.
 Boldface
A heavy typeface used for titles or emphasis
 Bar Code Density
The number of data characters which can be represented in a linear unit of measure. Bar code density is often expressed in characters per inch (CPI).
 Bar Code Reader
A device used to read bar code symbols
 Bar Length
The bar dimension perpendicular to the bar width. Also called Bar Height.
 Bar Width
The thickness of a bar measured from the edge closest to the symbol start character to the trailing edge of the same bar.
 Bar Width Reduction
Reduction of the nominal bar width dimension on film masters or printing plates to compensate for systematic errors in some printing processes.
 Base Quantity
The number of individual items in a packaging unit (box, crate, etc) received from the wholesaler.
 Backplane
The physical connection between an interface processor or card and the data buses and the power distribution buses inside a chassis.
 Bluetooth
Named after the Danish King Harold "Bluetooth" Blatant. Short range radio technology expanding wireless connectivity to personal and business mobile devices enabling users to connect their mobile phones, computers, printers, digital cameras, and other electronic devices to one another without cables.
 BootP
Bootstrap Protocol: A TCP/IP protocol by which a device, such as a diskless workstation or network computer (NC), obtains its IP address and other network information such as server address and default gateway.
